Alinea is Food and Wine Perfection

Most reviews of dining at Alinea focus on the astounding technical precision and flavor-focused approach that the entire kitchen staff fires at your dining experience. Of course the food portion of the evening is worthy of a small novel.  However, during our most recent visit, it was the combination of the food with our wine selections that were the highlight of our evening.

Alinea offers a wine pairing with its tasting menu. The wine list is quite extensive, with more than 650 selections, and is very reasonably priced for a restaurant of its status. After careful consultation with Alinea’s sommelier, we selected 4 wines that paired perfectly with the different sections of that evening’s 18-course tasting menu.

We chose a 2009 vintage Vilmart Rose champagne for the starter bites. For the opening courses, we sipped  a 2007 Lafon Clos de la Barre Meursault. The larger savory courses were complemented perfectly by a 2000 Haut-Bages Liberal, while the sweet courses, including the painting of the dessert table, were welcomed with a 2005 Rieussec Sauterne.

The union of  exquisite cuisine and outstanding wine certainly solidifies Alinea’s position as a near perfect dining destination. For more information, please see AlineaRestauraunt.com.
